Purple Post-Game (Kinda): Running Over Of The Bulls
So, no true Purple Post-Game for Bulls at Lakers? What gives? My DVR, apparently. Just when I rave about how much it has helped me follow every minute of Lakers basketball so far, it fails. Or maybe I failed. Typically I will record the game and start it later, either pretty soon or later on in the night. That’s exactly what I did Tuesday, except the listing they had for the Bulls at Lakers game was empty because the game had been moved to NBA TV as part of Fan Night. Last time I let that happen.
I did see the fourth quarter, however, and the highlights. The Kam brothers put it best, spinning a Rounders reference this way…
During last night’s 116-109 win over Chicago, if the young Bulls appeared at times to be running on reptilian hemoglobin, that was mostly because it was being generously transfused by their hosts.
The Lakers were so loosy goosy the other night. Maybe it was because Diaper Drew and the Spaniard were pretty much Dijon Hounsou and Russell Crowe in Gladiator, annihilating a deeper group of inferior opponents. I wasn’t totally joking when I joked that the Bulls were a donut team the other day. The rest of the Lake Show could have blown off curtain time entirely and we might have been OK.
Kurt over at Forum Blue and Gold also hit the nail on the head…
I just got done checking the NBA Rulebook, and it turns out the NBA does not award style points.
I do think we all need to be reminded every once in a while that maybe we get carried away with our criticism. After all, this is a team that has a chance to start the season’s first 10 games 9-1. That’s a 90% winning percentage, which if maintained would push the Lakers past the unthinkable 70-win threshold. Then again, I do think we should get at least a few style points for that crazy around-the-back catch-dribble that Kobe Bryant did in the open court before hitting Pau Gasol in stride with a behind-the-back-pass he flushed with authority.
The other thing I want to mention is that it appears that Entourage, my favorite show about Hollywood and the City of Angels, might be back. Last week’s episode — the highlight was when a batshit crazy German director, obviously modeled after Werner Herzog, hilariously lost his damn mind to a soundtrack of Rammstein in the middle of the Warners office — was the best in some time. Plus, Turtle actually scored with Meadow Soprano. Again, a good episode. I believe Lamar Odom was the last Laker on the show, but I’m betting Sasha Vujacic will be the next one. Stay tuned…
As far as tonight’s game goes, hopefully, Shaq and his Suns will taste KB24’s ass. I’ll try to help with that when I drop a post later on. For now, check out this preview from Suns.com:
