Back after taking a little Holiday vacay, and I just wanted to rap about the media’s perception of yesterday’s big game.
I’m sick of hearing about how this was a must-win game for the Lakers and just another game for the Celtics. If the Boston Celtics can’t get up for the Los Angeles Lakers on Christmas Day the first time they’ve met since the Finals then they need to check their pulse. It was a huge game for both teams, and the Lakers just outhustled and outplayed the Cs. End of story. No more making excuses for the Celtics.
I’ll be back [...]

Green With Envy
I’m not going to lie; I’ve thought that the age of basketball kicks being popular has been over for quite some time. Well, I think this is the player-shoe combo that can bring basketball kicks back. Kobe Bryant unveiled his new Nike Kobe Zoom IV yesterday, and the big news is that it’s a low-cut shoe. Check it out:
I used to be a shoehead back during my playing days. I think my favorite ever was the Nike Fab Five Air Max. I liked the Nike Huaraches that C-Webb and then Zo rocked (those were crazy — had the high-ankle Velcro [...]
Sure, the defense was a little disappointing last night, but a win is a win. Even the 1996 Bulls had their kinks. I would have loved for us to have blown the Suns to smithereens, especially since they were short handed given the J-Rich trade. Didn’t happen. Nonetheless, a win is a win. Here are my thoughts…
Kobe took under 20 shots; 16 instead of the 28 he took the night before, to be specific. The end result? A W.
Luke Walton — who was barely even playing before last night — started ahead of Vlade. Luke is an unbelievable passer, as [...]
Is That Leia Or Jabba?
I’m turning 30 a week from today, and it didn’t really hit me until I saw Carrie Fisher. You know you’re getting a little Obi-Wan Kenobi when Princess Leia starts looking like Jabba the Hutt. I mean, this was her just last year. WTF happened (I can hear my mom screaming, “menopause!”)? This fantasy is officially dead. First Jar Jar, now this? Star Wars will never be the same. Check her out…

(We interrupt the regular scheduled programming — Smack on Shaq — to bring you this special program. Smack on Shaq is on hiatus while Shaq is grieving the death of his grandmother. Don’t worry — we’ll make up for lost time soon. Very soon.)
I read a little bit of this piece and then just stopped. No offense to Neil Payne — who obviously knows his hoops and writes well — but outside of the Kobe Hater Club nobody wants to read that kind of stuff any more. It’s been done ad freakin’ naseam That being said…
Stop fucking comparing Kobe Bryant [...]
What the eff? To quote the great Roy Munson, “You lost to a club player — that’s not supposed to happen!”
So, what happened? We’ll, our highly touted bench got outplayed again, for one. The Lakers are 4-3 this year when Kobe Bryant registers 20-plus shot attempts. The second unit has got to play better for this team to become a championship one. Sasha Vujacic has two points in his last three. The Machine is obviously currently out of order. 15 points combined from Lamar Odom and Trevor Ariza also isn’t enough. They did an OK job of stat stuffing elsewhere, [...]
We’re gonna get our Laker Girl Love series kicked off soon. But before we get to the main course, here’s a final four mini-tourney appetizer of Laker Girl legends…

Emily Harper
She used to host Lakers TV and now appears on the soap opera Passions as Fancy Crane. I bet a lot of the fellas out there would like to show her their fancy cranes.

Friday night I was at a flick and last night I was consumed by the monstrous two-headed dragon of fantasy football and gambling. I taped both Lakers games and even caught the entire second half of the Wizards game. I mean, I love watching my Lakers, but when we are absolutely clobbering club players in early December it is hard to sit through every game. Especially live. We didn’t need Biff’s Grays Sports Almanac to know the results of these games beforehand. The Wiz on Friday and the Bucks for the Sunday whites isn’t exactly my idea of an action-packed [...]
10. Bullets represents the D.C. area so much better than Wizards. People get shot there everyday, but I have yet to see a wizard show up and, for instance, fix the economy. Or even the Wiz roster, while he’s miraculously fixing things.
9. I figured out why DeShawn Stevenson holds his hand in front of his face like a retard when he hits a three. He has the plays written on his hand. That’s how he improved his SAT from 450 as a sophomore to 1,150 as a senior — by using his hand as a cheat sheet. Why change what [...]
Here are the highlights of the tough last second loss to the Pacers and the big rebound win over the Sixers. I’m back from the Bay and back to my NBA League Pass! When you get used to watching almost all of the games, it’s hard to step away, man. Glad to be back.
