Purple Post Game: Weekend Wrap-Up

Posted by: kareemabduladam

Friday night I was at a flick and last night I was consumed by the monstrous two-headed dragon of fantasy football and gambling. I taped both Lakers games and even caught the entire second half of the Wizards game. I mean, I love watching my Lakers, but when we are absolutely clobbering club players in early December it is hard to sit through every game. Especially live. We didn’t need Biff’s Grays Sports Almanac to know the results of these games beforehand. The Wiz on Friday and the Bucks for the Sunday whites isn’t exactly my idea of an action-packed weekend.

I was actually glad that the Lakers allowed that ridiculous Wizards run at the end of Friday’s game. We got to see Kobe Bryant get floorburns again while beating multiple defenders for a loose ball. An MVP outhustling everybody else on the floor this time of year gives me goosebumps every time. Mamba wants it. We also got to see Kobe take on the entire Wiz defense to bank in what eventually was the game winning shot. Kobe also bricked what could have been a costly free throw, but Caron Butler bricked the potential game-winning three.

As for Sunday, all you really need to say about that game is that Vlade Radmanovic was dunking on the Bucks (most notably Andrew Bogut) like he was the second coming of Tom Chambers and Sun Yue debuted as a Laker. It got fugly for the Bucks.

I really just can’t wait for the Spring. Not complaining about the record or the blowouts, but routing these bottom dwellers can get a little monotonous to watch — especially with other teams’ announcers calling the game. At least we have the Suns on Wednesday (more of the Kobe Beef!) and Dwayne Wade and the the Magic coming up. I could do without the Kings twice in one week followed by the T-Wolves. Then again, save the great Sunday games for when the football action is gone. Good call, schedulemakers.

What I’ll continue to keep an eye on is the bench bunch to see if the can get their shit together. Hopefully, Lamar Odom’s new Secondary of the Second Unit position can restore order. It seems like the current problem is guys like Sasha Vujacic not buying completely in at times in favor of their individual numbers.
