Let’s all forget about the Lakers in their Sunday whites, the babes on the red carpet and the NFL Divisional Playoffs for a minute. Why? Because the biggest news from yesterday, in my opinion, was that Heath Ledger, one of my generation’s greatest performers, posthumously took home the Best Supporting Actor Golden Globe for his brilliant turn as the Joker in The Dark Knight.
Like director Christopher Nolan, I am saddened when I think of all the great performances we were robbed of when we lost Heath. As time passes, however, I will also cherish the performances we have in the vault. Heath’s performances in Brokeback Mountain and The Dark Knight will never be forgotten, and as a result neither will he. The Globes slighted TDK almost across the board, but at least they got this one right.
