Heath Ledger Wins Best Supporting Actor Golden Globe (W/ Video)

AUTHOR: | IN: Film, Hollywood Links, Los Angeles | COMMENTS: None Yet

Let’s all forget about the Lakers in their Sunday whites, the babes on the red carpet and the NFL Divisional Playoffs for a minute. Why? Because the biggest news from yesterday, in my opinion, was that Heath Ledger, one of my generation’s greatest performers, posthumously took home the Best Supporting Actor Golden Globe for his brilliant turn as the Joker in The Dark Knight. Like director Christopher Nolan, I am saddened when I think of all the great performances we were robbed of when we lost Heath. As time passes, however, I will also cherish the performances we have in [...]

Purple Post Game: More Than Keepin’ Pace

AUTHOR: | IN: Lakers, NBA, Purple Post Game | COMMENTS: None Yet

Man, the Pacers can score, can’t they? Granted, the Lakers could have pulled Jack Nicholson and four other fans out of the crowd to play defense like they did in the first half. Nonetheless, Obie’s teams are a lot of fun to watch. Here are my post-game thoughts: First off, the Celtics lost again! 2-7 in their last nine. I’m lovin’ it. The flip side of that coin is that the Cs lost to King James and the Cavs. The Cavs are tied with our beloved Purple and Gold for the league’s best record. I stick to my belief that [...]

Lakers Should Get A Few Miles Out Of Darius

AUTHOR: | IN: Breaking News, Lakers, NBA, Rumors | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Lakers are a few swingman short, correct? And Darius Miles is a swingman seeking a job, correct? OK, enough B.S. The Lakers should sign Darius Miles and play him in two games so that the up-and-coming Western Conference rival Blazers owe him $18 million over the next two years and hit the luxury tax. Talk about a shrewd front office move. Meanwhile, the Blazers are threatening to sue any team that signs Miles. My response: who gives a shit? What are they going to say in court? That Mitch Kupcheck, one of the NBA’s highest-regarded GMs, wanted to see [...]

Poor Jordan Farmar

AUTHOR: | IN: Hollywood Links, Lakers, Lifestyle, Los Angeles, Off-Topic | COMMENTS: None Yet

Our guy Jordan Farmar has been keeping himself busy. Not only is he rehabbing his knee, but he’s now blogging for the House that Hef built. That’s right — Playboy. In a recent blog entry, he actually complains about all the female “attention” UCLA players get. Jordan, with those ears I think you should be counting your blessings that you can hoop, not complaining. Just kidding, Jordan. You know we got love for you. Anyway, check it out… UCLA has a lot of beautiful girls, including their cheerleaders. And female fans’ attention is part of the life on campus, and [...]

Marquis Daniels’ Tattoo Is Effed Up

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA | COMMENTS: None Yet

When I think of the Pacers, one of the things I think of is this Marquis Daniels tat. Really, I don’t even know what to say, and I’m someone who has his fair share of ink. Speechless, I’ll let the tattoo and a corresponding quote from Dime Magazine do the talking… For all your Pacers coverage check out Indy Cornrows, where I will allegedly have a guest post up sometime today.

Trev Gets No Love In Lakers Commercial

AUTHOR: | IN: Blogosphere, Lakers, Off-Topic, Videos | COMMENTS: None Yet

The folks over at You Been Blinded dug up this Lakers commercial from FOX Sports West, and while I think the quality and production value are decent enough, I definitely agree with him on one thing: where’s the love for my guy Trevor Ariza? Anyway, enjoy…

Purple Post Game: Warr-i-ors…Come Out To Play

AUTHOR: | IN: Lakers, NBA, Purple Post Game | COMMENTS: None Yet

Going into last night’s game, I had a gut feeling that the Golden State Warriors were about as screwed as the Cony Island Warriors back in the day. As the unlucky bastards who had to face the Mamba and his Lake Show crew the night after taking a bump from CP3 and his NOLA gang, the Warriors were destined for a beatdown. They did a little bit better than what I thought they would, but in the end they still got what was coming to them. My highlights from last night, other than the Celtics choking again and Danny Granger [...]

Tonight Just Got Even Better

AUTHOR: | IN: NBA | COMMENTS: None Yet

My boy Danny Granger (my favorite non-Laker by far) just got his Reggie Miller on and sunk the Shaq-less Suns as the buzzer sounded with a dagger three. After that exact same thing just happened to them Christmas day against the Spurs, compliments of Roger Mason. Just hilarious! How ’bout playing some defense, Phoenix? Huh, you bums? We get a W tonight and I’m a very happy man.

After losing to the Rockets tonight, the Celtics are 2-6 in their last eight and have now dropped three in a row! I think I just got aroused! If that doesn’t make you feel better about last night’s dud, then I don’t know what will. More on tonight’s Warriors game to come…
