Purple Post Game: Stung In Our Own Hive
Some rapid-fire thoughts following last night’s loss… Why in the hell did Phil Jackson sit Kobe after his 20-point third quarter? He looked destined for 50 or 60. On a night when Lamar Odom got hurt and everybody else was basically worthless, the Zen Master should’ve rode Kobe’s hot hand to victory. Sasha Vujacic got into it with Chris Paul, and apparently Paul called him a bitch. Machine, if you dish it out you gotta be able to take it. And you can’t let your emotions take you out of the game. They were calling fouls on Sasha at a [...]
Get That Weak *#%@ Outta Here
More on the Lakers loss (hurts writing that) later. For now, chew on this nasty block by the Black Mamba… (hat tip: NESW Sports)
TENseltown: NBA Power Rankings (Jan. 6)
Team Analysis 1 Los Angeles Lakers The Lakers are the hottest team in the league, and, no, that’s not me being a homer either. The Lake Show is undefeated in 2009, has won 15 straight at home and six straight overall, and now has the NBA’s best record. All of this despite two key injuries (Jordan Farmar and Luke Walton) and a starting line-up that’s been shifting a bit. 2 Cleveland Cavs I love the Cavs right now. They might have lost to the lowly Wiz, but I expect the LeBronites to represent the East in the Finals against our [...]
Boxer Bikinis? C’mon!
I don’t care what you’re packing down there, this is just not OK. I also don’t understand why he’s covering up up top when he’s obviously not shy about letting his package bulge out. What’s the peace sign all about? Maybe he’s letting us know that both of his balls still have circulation. Save the bright blue boxer bikinis for under your jeans, Julian McMahon. That goes to all you fellas out here in SoCal, too, because I’ve seen quite a few mankinis and speedos hit the beaches. Julian derves to have something Nip/Tucked for wearing that. I doubt even [...]
Mamba Blocks?
No, it’s not a new toy, just a catchy title for something I found while perusing the ol’ Interwebs. Anytime I can post something as awesome as this, well, I have to. Enjoy… (hat tip: JBomb Basketball Blog)
Purple Post Game: Trailing Blazers
As I predicted, the Blazers didn’t put up much of a fight without Brandon Roy in the fold. This is the downside of having the league’s best record. Most of the time, you either blow teams out or lose unexpected shockers. It’s hard to stay happy as a fan, but I always try to remember that this is a sprint, and that this team was also always pretty young to make a realistic bid for 70 wins. So, even though we ran over the Blazers like they were Pacific Northwest roadkill, I’m not going to be bummed about it. We’ll [...]
Roy, No, Roy
After watching playoff football all day, it’s hard to get excited about this Sunday night match-up against the Blazers sans Brandon Roy. Roy’s one of the young players in the league I enjoy watching the most, and definitely the Blazers’ go-to guy down the stretch. I was really looking forward to this game, because I think the Blazers will be the Lakers primary rival in the West (along with the Hornets and Jazz) for the next five years or so. Without Roy it’s just not the same. Nonetheless, the Lakers have a chance to continue their home-winning streak and remain [...]
10 Things I Hate About You: Utah Jazz
10. My friend used to use Mark Eaton when we were kids in one of the early EA Sports NBA games. Used to reject my shots all over the place. Fuck that guy. Looked like a serial murderer on stilts. 9. Mehmet Okur’s hair. He’s like a younger, sleeker Rod Blagojevich. 8. AK47′s wife. She’s obviously trying to get herself a “get out of jail free” card to use down the line when she inevitably drops her pants for some Russian hockey stud. Skank. 7. The Utah Jazz homepage had the nerve to poll whether or not Paul Milsap was [...]
TENseltown: Top 10 Movies Of 2008
Here’s my obligatory top ten films list for 2008… 1. The Dark Knight The greatest superhero movie of all time hands down. Heath Ledger will never ever be forgotten thanks to his unforgettable turn as the Crown Prince of Crime. I watched this after doing The Godfather and The Godfather II back to back a few days ago, and it didn’t get blown off the screen. Not at all, actually. It’s a better crime sage than Heat and a better comic book flick than either Spider-Man or Superman all in one film, with some of the greatest action sequences ever [...]
