Derek Fisher. D-Fish! How much does that guy mean to our Lakers? Draws a charge with 20 seconds left to get the ball back, then drains a three to send the game to overtime 5 seconds later. Dude is clutch.
What’s up with Lamar Odom, by the way? My man L.O. is rebounding like the reincarnation of Rodman or something. 17 rips in this one, to go along with 12 points and 5 assists.
Pau Gasol is passing his ass off, isn’t he. 6 assists in this one, and he was strong across the board.
Then you have Luke Walton’s redunkulous +25 plus/minus in a game that went to overtime. Luke put up 14 points, 8 boards and 4 assists. Luke Statstuffer!
Then you have the Mamba. Kobe Bryant might have had an off shooting night, but he still went for 39 and willed his team to victory in overtime. Great players find a way to get it done, and that’s exactly what he did.
I was really, really impressed by both the Lakers passing and rebounding. 26 dimes (the Hornets had 27, but 16 of those were from Chris Paul) and 53 boards, 12 on the offensive glass. L.O. and Pau pulled down 9 off the offensive glass, one more than the entire Hornets roster.
Big win that probably should have been a painful loss. But Fisher made a heady play on a stupid CP3 mistake and then came up clutch as usual. That opened things up for Kobe to be Kobe in OT, and the rest is history.
