Discovered a pretty damn cool story about Kobe Bryant regretting missing the March Madness experience over at USA Today. Check out what the Mamba had to say about the Madness:
“Every time March Madness comes around,” Bryant says, “I regret not being part of that.”
Starting in 2005, the NBA required U.S. players to be a year removed from high school and at least 19 to be eligible for the NBA draft. If that were the rule in 1996, when Bryant graduated from Lower Merion (Pa.) High School, he would have enrolled at Duke — probably.
“Obviously, if I had taken going to [...]
What can you possibly say when shots like this are falling for the Hawks? Phil Jackson’s face describes what went down in yesterday’s loss better than any words could. Just watch…
Kobe Bryant and Lamar Odom struggled, Josh Powell played like a moron and the Hawks were absolutely on fire, especially noted Laker killer Mike Bibby. All things considered, it’s no wonder the Lakers lost, especially on a long road trip. Regardless, this loss along with a Cavs’ win probably locked up homecourt advantage for the Cavs. Diaper Drew, we need you back, son.
No sprained ankle is going to stop Kobe Bryant and the Lake Show. Besides, he’s got ankle insurance. Check out the Mamba going all Magic Johnson on the Nets…

All I have to say is that if the Clippers hire Isiah Thomas, then they deserve to continue to be the B-team in Los Angeles. If Donald Sterling hires Zeke, in my book he will then become even dumber than Zeke. I don’t even think his dear old friend Magic Johnson would hire him at this point. But there is a reason the Clippers are the Clippers.
What’s next? The Bengals hiring Matt Millen? Man. Poor Billy Crystal. Glad I’m a Lakers fan.
Kobe Bryant and his wife Vanessa ended up on TMZ today. As we all know, that can never be a good thing. Apparently, Vanessa treated their ex-maid about like Lee Emery’s drill sergeant did Private Pile in Full Metal Jacket. From TMZ:
Kobe Bryant and his wife Vanessa are being sued by their former housekeeper, who claims Vanessa was incredibly abusive — even demanding that she put her hand in a bag of dog feces to retrieve a tag from her blouse … so Vanessa could deduct the cost of the blouse from the maid’s salary!
Maria Jimenez claims Vanessa called her [...]
Not much to say on this one — our Lakers rolled as expected. Other than the highlights I already featured, I loved Kobe Bryant’s block on Kevin Durant. It was also nice to see Shannon Brown get in on the action with an alley-oop slam
Overall, though, my star of the game was Josh Powell. 14 points in 20 minutes on 5-11 shooting, 4-4 from the stripe. Pau Gasol had a better all-around night, but I wanted to show J-Peezy some love.
Video Highlights:
Pau Gasol did his best Pistol Pete on this play. Even though he doesn’t finish (contact?), the play is still amazing. Check it out…
I didn’t watch the whole game — again, it was the Thunder! — but this play had to be the play of the night. Pau Gasol makes a great outlet pass to Kobe Bryant, who immediately flips it behind his back to find Trevor Ariza for a monster flush. Now that is the Lake Show.
