Luke Walton Sidelined Indefinitely With Ankle Injury

Luke Walton could be sidelined for the entire postseason with a torn ligament in his ankle. From The Associated Press:

The Los Angeles Lakers’ forward sprained his ankle in Saturday night’s Game 3 at Utah. He had an MRI this morning, which revealed the partial tear of the deltoid ligament.

Walton, a reserve, is out indefinitely and will be re-evaluated in one week.

Ouch. This is not good. I’m a big Luke Walton fan. I think he is to off-the-bench passing and unselfishness what Jeff Foster and Paul Milsap are to off-the-bench rebounding. This should result in more burn for both Lamar Odom, Trevor Ariza, maybe even Josh Powell, which might not end up being a bad thing. Nevertheless, we wish Luke a speedy recovery. We’d all love to have you back at some point during this title run.
