Denver Nuggets Thuggets: Mark Cuban Was Right
Think Mark Cuban was wrong to call the Denver Nuggets a bunch of thugs? I’m not so sure he was. Let’s review the case, shall we… Carmelo Anthony – Appeared in the infamous Stop Snitchin’ video. You know, the one that encouraged criminal informants to stop “snitchin’,” aka informing, to the cops. He’s had two incidents with Mary Jane, an on-court brawl and a DUI case which got pleaded down. This is just the stuff we know about. His wife even recently got kicked out of a game. Chris “Birdman” Anderson – Anderson was kicked out of the NBA for [...]
My Guilty Pleasure: One fan’s admission
After a huge win in a well-fought series, one of my favorite things is to watch the fans that talked a big game make comments regarding their own team’s miserable failure. I don’t chime in and say anything, but I have to admit I watch what they say and take great joy in it. Realistically, Houston fought with a great amount of heart in this series and they deserve a lot of credit. I think the Lakers really beat themselves in the losses, but Houston capitalized on every opportunity the Lakers gave them. Without such a dominant player like Yao [...]
Lakers Dominate Rockets in Game Seven First Half
Couldn’t have asked for a better first half, Lakers fan. Rapid-fire thoughts… Pau Gasol has been downright nasty. 11 points, 12 rebounds. Passive Pau has morphed into Kung Pau. At least for this game. Trevor Ariza got this party started with his 13 points and aggressive play. I like it. When the Venezuelan Vendetta is the aggressor, he is almost impossible to stop. Andrew Bynum has imposed his will on the game, especially defensively, Hell, I even liked Diaper Drew pushing over Aaron Brooks. Drew needs to let his opponents know whose house it is. Derek Fisher came out with [...]
ESPN is right about one thing… There might not be a more polarizing athlete in the world, but hate him or love him, you want to know more about Kobe. There might not be a more polarizing athlete in the world, but hate him or love him, you want to know more about Kobe. Personally, I will be glued to the tube when Kobe Doin’ Work drops tonight. It’s not very often you get to see an A-list filmmaker make an up-close-and-personal documentary about one of the best athletes in the world. When that athlete happens to be your favorite [...]
I haven’t had this much fun watching dialogue about rings since Frodo was kicking it with Sam and that other Sam — Sam Cassell. Kobe Bryant and LeBron James, or at least the puppet versions, do it again… (hat tip: NESW Sports, the spot for sports videos)
PPG: Other Than Kobe, This Lakers Team Is Heartless
Imagine Megan Fox having a one-night stand with Jonah Hill. Now imagine her doing it three times in 10 days. That describes the Lakers’ performance in this second-round series against the Rockets. The only thing worse than the talent discrepancy the Lakers hold over the Rockets is the “gives a sh**” discrepancy the Rockets hold over the Lakers. Other than Aaron Brooks, Luis Scola and Ron Artest, what healthy Rockets’ player could even make the Lakers? Carl Landry? Fine, he’d replace Josh Powell as the Lakers’ on-bench mannequin. Kyle Lowry? He might good enough to take Shannon Brown’s eight minutes [...]
Sasha Vujacic: “Machine Is Amazing” (Video)
This new Sasha Vujacic video is hilarious. Keep these Machine spoofs coming, please… (hat tip: We Want Tacos)
Some players are just mean-looking. After watching quite a few playoff games recently, I realized that there are some who definitely stand out as always looking mad at the world. Therefore, I’ve chosen my NBA All-Angry team for 2008-2009 (playoff teams only): Ron Artest Ron Ron is one of those guys who everyone assumes is on the verge of erupting in to a homicidal rage. I don’t know why anyone would get that idea. His recent sprint across the court to confront Kobe Bryant didn’t help his quest to “fix” his image, either. I’m sure he means well, but we [...]
Lakers Fans Bust Out “We Want Mbanga” During Blowout
You know the Lakers are handin’ the Rockets an ass whoopin’ when the fans bypass the “we want tacos” chant and go straight to this… It worked, because D.J. Mbenga got in the game. Hell, Mbenga even scored. Too bad Ron Artest was on the pine. That would be the best on-court star-scrub wrestling match since Dennis Rodman and Frank Brickowski battled back in ’96. Kobe-LeBron Nike Puppets Commercial (Video)
Either the people at Nike Basketball have done too much acid or the were big Jim Henson fans. Either way, this is a pretty fun commercial featuring the puppet versions of the past two NBA MVPs — Kobe Bryant and LeBron James. (hat tip: King James Gospel)
