After a horrible year, we here at Lakeshowlife.com have given Sasha Vujacic plenty of grief about his shooting. I wrote an open letter asking where his shot went, and we’ve pretty much unanimously agreed that we’d prefer he was traded or benched. With the off-season producing many headline-worthy events, Sasha has been quietly practicing with the Slovenian national team in preparation for the summer tournament. Aside from a knee injury that was reported as mild, we haven’t heard much about his experience. Until now. It appears that Sasha’s mental physical spiritual various problems that prevented him from contributing to the [...]
It’s Kobe’s Bday, Let’s Celebrate His Brilliance
Check out some of my other work at NBAtipoff.com! Today, August 23rd, Kobe Bryant turns 31. He is an incredible player, leader and you can’t deny his ability to play basketball. Take a minute today to recognize Kobe! What’s your favorite Kobe moment?
Lakers Off-Season Headlines: Gasol Injured, Brian Shaw Next in Line?, Kareem a Head Coach?
All apologies for the recent lull in updates here. The Laker nation just grew by one- I welcomed a healthy son into the world on August 7th! On to the off-season update… Gasol Injury Update: According to the L.A. Times, Gasol’s finger injury is minor. He should have a ball back in his hands within the next week or two. An interesting point raised, however, is that this injury just might keep him out of the European tournament. While this is sad for basketball fans, I can help but hope he can’t play for fear of injuring himself further and [...]
The Los Angeles Lakers have responded to a report by a Spanish website that Pau Gasol broke one of his fingers during practice with the Spanish national team. According to the Los Angeles Times, Laker spokesman John Black received a call from Gasol’s agent Arn Tellem who notified him of the injury. Gasol has undergone surgery and is expected to be out for three weeks. This news comes on the heels of a report detailing a minor knee injury suffered by Sasha Vujacic in his native Slovenia just a few days ago. Sasha has since retuned to practice with the [...]
Now that the official word is out, it is time to bid farewell to Kurt Rambis. News broke today that Rambis agreed to become the newest head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves for the sum of $8 million to be paid over the next four years. We here at Lake Show Life would like to thank Rambis for his years of service in the Laker organization as a player, front office member and most recently as an assistant to Phil Jackson. On behalf of Dwane Casey, Kevin McHale, Randy Wittman, the late Bill Musselman, Flip Saunders and Sidney Lowe, we’d [...]
One of the top stories surrounding the addition of Ron Artest to the Lakers rotation is the negative stigma that seems to follow him from team to team. With a history of over-reacting and being quick to anger, Artest has developed a reputation as one of the bad-boys of the NBA. Speculation and reputation only capture part of the truth, however. While he may have a thick skin and talk trash with the best of them, Artest recently showed us that deep down inside there is a nurturing, caring human being. On his recent trip to China, Artest played basketball [...]
Lake Show Life has sources everywhere. We can’t divulge how we attained the following phone conversation between Kurt Rambis and Phil Jackson but we’re more than happy to share it with our readers. Phil Jackson (answers phone, chanting is heard in the background): Hello. Kurt Rambis: Hey PJ, its Kurt. PJ: Kurt? It’s 4:20 in the afternoon. You know what me and Jeanie are getting ready to do! KR: Sorry PJ. I really need to talk to you though. What’s that in the background? PJ: That is the soothing sound of the Mbuti Rain Forest Pygmies chanting in unison. It [...]
When you’re at the pinnacle of your profession, your competitors will always try to poach your talent. Such is the case for teams like the New England Patriots who see their assistant coaches courted year after year for head coaching positions. In recent years, this has been exactly what Kurt Rambis and the Los Angeles Lakers have been through. Rambis has been linked to coaching vacancies in Indiana, Philadelphia and most recently Sacramento. Now, the Minnesota Timberwolves are his latest flirtation. According to Sid Hartman of the Minneapolis Star Tribune, former Laker Mychal Thompson is doing his best to deliver [...]
