The Los Angeles Lakers have responded to a report by a Spanish website that Pau Gasol broke one of his fingers during practice with the Spanish national team.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Laker spokesman John Black received a call from Gasol’s agent Arn Tellem who notified him of the injury.

Gasol has undergone surgery and is expected to be out for three weeks.

This news comes on the heels of a report detailing a minor knee injury suffered by Sasha Vujacic in his native Slovenia just a few days ago.

Sasha has since retuned to practice with the Slovenian national team. The post on Sasha’s website blamed the injury on “the effects of exercise in inappropriate sports shoes”. With no clear explanation of the “minor injury”, many wonder if he violated the terms of his contract by participating in the Slovenian festival of kicking logs up the side of the Alps. There was also no word on whether or not  Sasha has found his jumpshot in Slovenia yet.
