Friendly Advice to Women Everywhere

AUTHOR: Ryan Kane | IN: Babes, Los Angeles, Off-Topic | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Watching the game last night reminded me of some advice I’ve given to various women over the years.  It is a simple concept and makes a lot of sense if you think about it:
Everything is relative.  Especially beauty.
If you are going to be out and about (at a Laker game, for example) and people are going to be looking at you to see how you look, remember that the women around you will provide a reference point to determine your beauty.
That said, if you want to be viewed as attractive, don’t sit next to a beautiful model.
That’s all I’m saying.

Ron Artest’s Hair: Chinese “Champion” Symbol, Lakers Logo And “Chatty”

AUTHOR: kareemabduladam | IN: Lakers, Ron Artest | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

If Ron Artest is gonna be Phil Jackson’s 2000s model Dennis Rodman, he’s certainly started with the right haircut. He’s got the Chinese symbol for “champion” on the right side of his head, a Lakers logo on the back and “Chatty,” for his deceased friend back in NYC, on the left. I wonder if  his barber needed an IV drip? Check out the video.

The Media Loves Lamar and Khloe

AUTHOR: Ryan Kane | IN: Blogosphere, Lamar Odom | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

I’ve tried to avoid posting about it.  The season is about to start and we have far more important things to think about.  The big headlines should be about Blake Griffin’s injury or Pau Gasol possibly sitting out the season opener.  Maybe talk about the Cavaliers/Celtics matchup.  Talk about something other than Lamar’s personal life.
And yet here we are- two days before the Lakers season opener and it seems like every news outlet in the country is making sure everyone knows the huge news: Lamar Odom and his new almost-kinda-wife Khloe Kardashian got tattoos of each others initials.  The funny [...]

ESPN “Experts” Predict Success for Lakers in 2009-10

AUTHOR: Ryan Kane | IN: Lakers, NBA, Power Rankings | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

If you want to see an example of a page that makes Laker-haters cringe, hope on over to ESPN’s “expert” predictions page for the Lakers.  It’s rare to see that many people completely agree when it comes to predicting a team’s success in a yet-to-be-started season.
Interestingly, many of them bring up a flaw or two only to say that the flaw(s) will not stop the Lakers from winning.
Ron Artest is brought up a couple of times, and my favorite quote is from Chad Ford who said:
“I think they lost something when they essentially swapped Trevor Ariza for Ron Artest. Artest [...]

Lamar Odom Has Contusion on Lower Right Leg

AUTHOR: alexcs | IN: Lakers | COMMENTS: None Yet

Name’s Alex. Check out my blog for more of my work.
Lamar Odom suffered a minor injury in last night’s 98-92 win over the Kings. He is currently listed as day to day by the team and said this about the injury (from the LA Times): “I’m alright. It’ll be alright. They were wrestling down there, Ron, the wrestler and Brockman, they were wrestling and someone down there kicked me,” Odom said. “Front side. Right side on my shin. Right on the muscle there. It’s a tough place to get hit. Treatment, that’s it.”
I’m not really worried about this, but it’s [...]

Ron Artest Says Kobe is “The Greatest to Ever Play the Game”

AUTHOR: Ryan Kane | IN: Lakers | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

(via LATimes.com) Thanks to our network-friends over at FullyClips.com, we found this gem of a quote from Ron Artest when asked about Stephen Jackson’s demand to be traded:
“The greatest did it before — Kobe, the greatest to ever play the game — and he won a championship after that” demand, Artest said. “He wanted to win. He didn’t want out; he wanted to win. Stephen Jackson probably isn’t as talented as the greatest, but he has got as much heart.”
Many Kobe-haters (and FullyClips.com) will bring up the fact that last season Ron-Ron famously said Brandon Roy of the Blazers was [...]

Lakers Season Preview: The Coaching Staff

AUTHOR: Chris Shellcroft | IN: Lakers, Preview | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

Perhaps the biggest loss the Lakers suffered this off-season was the departure of long time assistant coach Kurt Rambis. Rambis had been a fixture in the Purple and Gold fold for nearly three decades as a player, front office staffer and coach.
Last season, Phil Jackson took an NFL-like approach to delegating duties to his assistants. For all intents and purposes, Rambis was the Lakers’ defensive coordinator during the ’08-09 season.
Now that Rambis has become the new head coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves, his duties will be split among the rest of the assistants. The front office opted not to hire [...]

Lakers Season Preview: Breaking Down the Frontcourt

AUTHOR: Ryan Kane | IN: Lakers | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The Lakers frontcourt in 2009-10 is going to be one of the best group most of us can remember.  With a four-man rotation of Bynum, Gasol, Odom, and Artest, the crew will be a force to be reckoned with.
While the Lake Show cleaned up the playoffs using Odom as a starter and Bynum off the bench, I think we should look for Phil Jackson to put things back the way they were at the start of last season- a rotation of Pau/Drew at center and a rotation of Lamar/Pau at Power Forward.  No doubt Ron Artest will be starting at [...]

Lakers Season Preview: Breaking Down the Backcourt

AUTHOR: Chris Shellcroft | IN: Lakers, Preview | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

The discussion of the Laker backcourt begins and ends with Kobe Bryant. As he goes, the Lakers will follow. KB24 is the best player in the game. That is not up for debate. That guy in Cleveland is a beast but his resume is a few pages shy of being included in the thin pile where you’ll find Mr. Bryant’s.
We’re talking about the resume stack you’d find on James Naismith’s desk with the likes of Jordan, Magic, Bird, Wilt, Kareem and Russell. This is where you’ll find Kobe and if he takes another step closer to matching the jewelry total [...]

White Men Can’t Jump, But Shannon Brown Sure Can

AUTHOR: Ryan Kane | IN: Lakers | COMMENTS: 2 Comments

If you are outside the LA Area and don’t get to watch the preseason games, this is one thing you missed last night:

There’s a reason why Shannon Brown is already a fan-favorite.
The Lake Show looked amazingly cohesive as a unit considering it was the first game of the year for them.  Artest played as advertised, Sasha’s hair is short again, and Bynum showed some of the sparks of brilliance we hoped for.
LakeShowLife.com will be kicking back into gear for the season soon!
