Artest needs to stick to defending and rebounding. He doesn't always make sense when he speaks. ... Bryant is a scorer, nothing more; never has been. I'll give him this: He's a hella hard worker who wants to win, and he can definitely score. But if all of Bryant's lap-dog fans (that's you, ESPN) and Lakers fans in general would stop for a minute and think about this rationally (I know, this is about as likely as getting an actress to stop seeking attention), they'd see that Bryant's four titles were all the direct result of quality centers. That starts with Shaq; no argument there. But after the big fella left (to win another title with Miami), "Bryant's Lakers" served as first-round losers or didn't get into the playoffs at all. The Lakers didn't make it to the finals, and then win the finals, until the noted development of Andrew Bynum and the acquisition of one Pau Gasol. Therein layeth the real reason for the Lakers' success. But then, giving credit to Bynum and Gasol for winning a ring just isn't as romantic and sensational, is it?
