Phil Jackson says Pau Gasol is “weak and sickly”

How do you explain Pau Gasol’s recent dip in production during the Lakers’ losses to the Mavs and Heat?

According to Phil Jackson Gasol has been “weak and sickly” and is “under the weather”.

Funny, Pau didn’t seem too “weak” when he dropped 14 and pulled down 16 boards during the demolition of the Pacers. He didn’t appear to be all that “sickly” when he went off for 15 and 14 against the Nuggets.

Is this just another mind game being played by the Jedi Master of coaching? Is PJ manipulating the media while simultaneously trying to light a fire under his All-Star forward?

We’ll see as Dave McMenamin’s report trickled out just minutes before the Lakers took the court in Charlotte.

One thing we do know is that everything Phil says is done with a very specific purpose. In this case maybe all he was trying to do is get an awkward chuckle out of the Spaniard.

When Pau was informed of Jackson’s statement he replied with a simple, “That’s funny.”
