After watching the Lakers drop their third straight thanks to a 98-96 loss in Memphis a few things became crystal clear. In fact, it’s at the point now where you can just go down a check list of things that go wrong in Lake Show losses. The Indiana Pacers are partying like it’s 1999. That year would be the last time a Pacer team won a game against the Lakers in the city of Los Angeles. The Lakers had no answer for Deron Williams on either side of the court, as Jerry Sloan put him at 2 guard down the stretch and he was simply too much for the Lakers to handle.

After it is all said and done, the Lakers will look back at their 102-96 loss in Utah knowing it could have easily been a win. A game that was promised to have a playoff feel lived up to the hype. This one had all the drama you’d expect to see in the NBA come June. The Jazz overcoming a hot Lake Show early. Kobe Bryant hitting clutch shot after clutch shot late. A controversial malfunctioning shot clock. It was all there. Only thing missing was the playoff logo on the EnergySolutions court.

After cruising through a schedule softer than an Erik Spoelstra practice session, the Lakers are finally getting a taste of tougher competition. Prior to the Thanksgiving holiday, the Lake Show was given its toughest test to date by the Chicago Bulls. That game had a very distinct playoff feel to it.
