Kobe Bryant Goes Top 10

As the Lakers were pouring it on the Pistons in the third quarter, Kobe Bryant was putting himself in even more rarified air. Bryant needed only 15 points coming into tonight’s tilt to surpass Dominique Wilkins for 10th on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.

Mission accomplished!

KB24 is now in front of the Human Highlight Film, joining a list that includes one-time Lakers Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Karl Malone, Wilt Chamberlain and Shaquille O’Neal. That’s right, haters, 5 of the 10 best scorers to ever play the game have worn Purple and Gold in their careers.

As the all-time scoring leader in franchise history, Kobe was already among the elite. Now, he’s officially in MJ’s wheelhouse as the 10 greatest to ever play.

Up next is the Big O himself, Oscar Robertson. Making Bryant’s latest feat even more amazing is that he’s only the third guard to crack the top 10. While it is highly doubtful Kobe – or any man for that matter – will catch The Cap, he certainly does have designs on going top 5 before it is all said and done.

Congrats again to Mamba on yet another amazing accomplishment! After it is all said and done we’ll look back at Kobe’s career and will wonder if another Laker will ever come close to touching his greatness. Truly amazing!
