No Ron Artest, Just Metta World Peace

It’s finally officially official.

Ron Artest is no more.

Hence forth he shall be known as…Metta Wold Peace.

Among the most colorful personalities in all of sports its only fitting that Ron…damn, I mean…Metta has a colorful name to match.

After being put on hold due to unpaid traffic citations, this morning an L.A. Superior Court ruling was handed down allowing Artest to become World Peace. Time to update those jerseys as there will be a new number to accompany the new name.

This wasn’t a rash decision by any means. Metta had been planning the name change for some time and was just looking for the right way to get his message across. Well, message received as even his own daughter is rumored to be getting in on the action. Soon the entire Artest clan could be known as World Peace.

You gotta give it up to Metta. Dude has always marched to the beat of whatever drum he hears in the distance. At times his personality can be in stark contrast to the situation at hand but his transformation over the years has been truly inspirational.

The man known for one of the darkest chapters in the history of sports is now a full-fledged ambassador for mental health and is also spreading world peace wherever he goes.
