You can put the World Peace in Ron but you can’t take the street Artest out of Metta. Dude might be all love off the court but he’s still all business on it. Just check his claim that nobody on the planet can touch his touch his streetball squad.
To prove his mettle Metta called out DC native Kevin Durant on the eve of a streetball contest between NYC natives and ballers born in the Nation’s Capital.
“Truwarier’s verses Kevin Durants team. I got 200k or 300k on it!! Winner take all. For now I’m in LA!! Email my management if yal want it!! Anybody in america who really want to to play against my team forth money email [email protected] I’m tired of this! I run NYC streetball! If the goodman league wanna holla at the most consistent NBA streetball player holla. You can’t just start doing street ball. My squad here. I’ll take my squad with no pro players against any squad and there pro players.”
Now I’m all for Ron…or Metta…or whoever is speaking up making such bold claims. Where you’re from in hoops is as much a pride thing as how nice your game is. Nice to know World Peace is still Queens to the core.
The real talk is that instead of hopping a red eye to NYC and proving his point Metta is staying in L.A. to do a film and a music video.
Not saying my man is Hollywood but the Dancing With the Stars Debacle followed by these (as of now) hollow words don’t mix like two Richards and no females (paraphrasing Biggie there).
Still you gotta love Metta’s spirit. Even though we’re on the verge of losing pro hoops we’ve still got guys like World Peace looking to return the game to its essence.
