Kobe Bryant + Madison Square Garden = Must See TV

While we’re all basking in the afterglow of the Lake Show’s best road win of the season, a bare knuckle Beantown bar fight to be remembered, guys like Kobe Bryant are turning the page. It’s not like KB24 doesn’t consider the win in Boston to be a win and nothing more. He knows how important that W was. It’s just that Bryant sees something more alluring on the horizon.

That shiny object which captivates Kobe is a building in Manhattan known as Madison Square Garden. MSG is to hoops what the Kentucky Derby is to people who own funny hats. Few players have as great a sense of hoops history as Kobe Bryant does.

Kobe knows what it means to play under the bright lights of NYC. Kobe knows of all the legends that left their mark in New York’s hallowed grounds. Kobe also knows how to rise to the occasion.

Over the years we’ve seen a much different Bryant in MSG than the one we normally see. The NY Bryant is a Kobe that channels the fury of Reggie Miller and the style of Clyde Frazier. The NY Bryant is part killer, part entertainer. The Kobe in Madison Square Garden is Must See TV. From his nasty baseline reverse on Latrell Sprewell to his MSG record 61 points you can count on Kobe doing something amazing in New York City. Here are a few of those memorable MSG moments.
