Kobe Bryant’s Wife Only Wants To Be Married To Guys Who Win Championships

Kobe Bryant is crazy for winning. The dude is considered, by far, the fiercest competitor in the NBA, and his burning will to win defines his abrasive personality.

But behind every successful winner, there’s a wife who marries that winner because they still win.

Vanessa Bryant is that woman, and she seems to be just as fierce of a competitor as Kobe Bryant. In fact, you could say that if Kobe doesn’t win another title, Mrs. Bryant may divorce him. Or so it seems. From The Basketball Jones:

"“I certainly would not want to be married to somebody that can’t win championships. If you’re sacrificing time away from my family and myself for the benefit of winning championships, then winning a championship should happen every single year.”"

You can understand Vanessa’s frustration. Kobe, for the past 17 years of his life, has been away from his family for nine months every year. He’s making bank — a little too much, methinks — but Vanessa is not some shallow wife who is only in it for Kobe Bryant’s money.

No, she’s in it for his championships, because being with a champion is like being a champion yourself. She’s also a Lakers fan, through and through, and this notion is bolstered by her saying that “winning a championship should happen every year.” (She may have higher expectations than we do!)

In all seriousness, you can tell Vanessa’s perturbed with Kobe Bryant’s dedication to basketball. If Kobe ever went on record to say that basketball came before his family, this would be one of the least surprising things a Laker can say.

Either way, the Bryants’ relationship has been super rocky lately, so we’ll have to keep an eye on this closely.

That’s a joke. I have no intention of “keeping an eye on this.” I couldn’t give a damn if Kobe gets divorced, so long as he brings another parade to downtown Los Angeles.

If that does happen, though, I guess we won’t have to worry about the dissolution of the weirdest basketball relationship ever.
