Mike D’Antoni To Make Lakers Debut Tonight…No Really For Real This Time

We’ve been here a time or two in the last few days so you’ll forgive me if this becomes nothing more than another false alarm. According to Mike D’Antoni himself he’ll be making his official debut as head coach of the Lakers tonight as the Brooklyn Nets come into town.

D’Antoni’s recovery from knee surgery has pushed back his debut that was to occur on Sunday. Yesterday it appeared as if we were going to be in a holding pattern for the next week on D’Antoni’s debut.

However with two back-to-backs coming up this week it only made sense for Coach D to jump into the saddle now. Trying to work his way in amid a road trip and a hectic slate of games would have been ill advised.

So take this for whatever its worth. If you rush home from work in hopes of getting your first glimpse of D’Antoni courtside at Staples only to be greeted by Bernie Bickerstaff just remember not to shoot the messenger.
