Who has advice for the Lakers? Phil Jackson does. On Wednesday, Jackson was on “The Herd With Colin Cowherd” and he had a few things to say.
When asked what he would do if the Lakers came asking him for help, Jackson said, “I would find one of my assistant coaches to work with me to help them just as quickly as possible because I know what they need”. He later went on to say, “I think they need to get back inside, where the strength of their team is and use that presence in there to dominate games. I think there is a way to do that.”
Coach Mike D’Antoni has said that he thinks he figured out how to use the players correctly, but we aren’t sure if he can do that for a full season with everyone healthy. Once D’Antoni realized the correct way to use his players, the team did really well. The Lakers were able to not only make the playoffs, but make it the seventh seed. I’d say that is impressive considering all of the injuries the Lakers had throughout the season.
I believe the Lakers should give D’Antoni another shot, especially after last season. If the Lakers can bring Gasol, Metta World Peace, and Dwight Howard back, and Kobe Bryant comes back healthy, I think next years Lakers could be dangerous. They might be the title contenders they were supposed to be, but they can be good enough to make a run in the playoffs. That is, if D’Antoni uses everyone properly.
