While the Lakers have been adamant all spring and summer that they are not interested in a sign and trade, that isn’t stopping the Warriors from preparing a package to get Dwight Howard to Golden State.

According to Marcus Thompson, the Warriors have a package centered around center Andrew Bogut and one of their young wingman in Harrison Barnes or Klay Thompson. They also would include the expiring contracts of either Richard Jefferson or Andris Biedrins to give the Lakers maximum salary cap relief.
As has been the case all along, the Lakers don’t want contracts that go through next summer. However, with Barnes and Thompson  making just $3.04 and $4.46 million dollars next season, neither would take up much cap space and could be intriguing pieces to help lure free agents to LA next summer.

Harrison Barnes has way more upside in my opinion. In last year’s playoffs they were going to Barnes in crunch time because of his ability to get off his shot…Thompson is a great shooter but not so much when the defense focuses on him.

Bogut and Thompson is too much. Bogut and Barnes would be OK with me.

Are you a GS fans and saying that offering Bogut and Thompson is too much from their prospective?

I am much higher on Harrison Barnes than Thompson, but that is just my opinion.

Klay Thompson would be my choice

I like Klay too. I just see Barnes as having the higher ceiling. Barnes is more athletic and better at getting his shot off. Klay struggled when the defense focused on him and he could not longer break free to get up his pretty shot from the outside.

I like Barnes too but this Lakers roster doesn’t need a SF to create his own shot with Nash and or Kobe running the team. Klay’s superior spot up shooting is exactly what the team needs. Couple that with his better marketability and home town affinity/ties, via his dad.

Also keep in mind 2014 is lurking. With the Pacers extending David West 13 mil for the next 3 seasons it will be difficult for them to retain Paul George given they are one of the 10 teams currently over the luxury tax threshold. George is far and away better than Barnes and will be one of the many big names in 2014.

Imagine George and Thompson two young LA natives leading the post Kobe era? TWC and the LA fan base would all be happy campers. Not only that, you now have a one two punch at the wings that could rival the Heat going forward.

Harrison Barnes is the choice….and take Andre Roberson and a pick while your at it.
