It’s been 34 years since Earvin “Magic” Johnson was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers, which means it’s been 54 years since Magic was born. Yes, Magic Johnson turned 54 years old today. One of, if not the best Laker, of all-time last played 17 years ago.

Now, I can’t go too much into Magic’s career achievements and what-not due to us ranking the best Lakers of all-time, so I’ll just state the basic stats. For his career, he averaged 19.5 points, 11.2 assists, 7.2 rebounds, 1.9 steals, while shooting 84.8 percent from the free throw line, 52 percent from the field, and 30.3 percent from beyond the three point line. Johnson’s career highs (minimum 70 games) were 23.9 points, 13.1 assists, 9.6 rebounds, and 2.7 steals.

Magic has been a warriors throughout his career, which makes him a true Laker. Even though I never had a chance to watch the best point guard of all-time, I’m still proud he played for my favorite team.

Happy birthday, Magic.
