On Sunday afternoon, the Los Angeles Lakers Youth Foundation made $7,825, thanks to the Mariani/Buss Celebrity Charity Event. The poker tournament was hosted by the World Poker Tour (WPT) foundation.

The winner of the event, Steve Pulliam, won $8,195. Toto “The Ripper” came in second and Lakers owner Jim Buss finished in 24th out of the 57 contestants.

World Poker Tour commentator, Vince Van Patton, came in third place, and had a few things to say about the late Dr. Buss.

"“[Dr. Buss] was truly world class. He could play [poker] with anyone. He made our WPT Invitational top two, almost won the event. That’s not a fluke. We played poker together. [He was] a great lover of life and a good person.”"
