Jodie Meeks, College Graduate

Amidst a very entertaining playoff season for the NBA as well as a surprisingly busy Laker off-season, other players are pursuing their goals.  Today, one of those players met their goal.  Jodie Meeks is a college graduate from the University of Kentucky.

Every off-season Meeks attended classes at Kentucky, dedicated to completing his degree in business marketing. He’ll finally walk with fellow graduates on Saturday night.

“You never know how long your career will last,” said Meeks. “Once you have a degree, you have it forever.” – LA Times

Jodie Meeks has had a transformative year on the floor.  He was considered the Most Improved Player on the Laker roster this season.  It’s nice to see that in his educational life, he had a transformation as well.  It reveals the type of character that goes well in the locker room.  Teammates, friends, and family alike can appreciate his ambition.  Considering how well he played this past season, maybe he’s worth keeping into next season, even if his salary goes into the Laker team cap.

After all, this is the kind of player, and person, you want in the locker room.  It isn’t just a player anymore.  He’s educated.

Congratulations, Jodie Meeks.
