Lakers Rumors: Lakers interested in Lance Stephenson

With Carmelo Anthony still the primary focus and a decision expected today, the Lakers have kept their eye on the free agent market. One of the most controversial free agents, Lance Stephenson, appears to be on their radar.

With the enigmatic swingman unhappy with the Pacers current contract offer, Stephenson will explore the free agency market, and the Lakers are one of his suitors. Chris Broussard of ESPN reports:

"Although his desire is to remain with the Pacers, a disappointed Stephenson began exploring the free-agent market after receiving what he felt was a low-ball offer on Tuesday, sources said.Stephenson has drawn interest from the Dallas Mavericks and Los Angeles Lakers, although both teams have other free agents prioritized above Stephenson, according to sources."

Stephenson’s questionable antics led many to believe he wasn’t worth the price tag he would be demanding. However, at just 23 years old, Stephenson has all potential to further his skill set even more than he showed last year.As one of the key cogs of the Pacers team that reached the Conference Finals, Stephenson found himself in the middle of many headlines for his Ron Artest-like persona on the court. His 13.8 points, 7.2 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game do not tell the whole story of Stephenson, who is a playmaker with a flair for the dramatics. In a sense, he was made for Hollywood. However, it’ll take an offer bigger than the 5 year, $44 million offer the Pacers gave him. Lakers fans, would you sign Stephenson to a contract that big?
