According to Dallas Mavericks beat writer Dwain Price, the Lakers have a $2.73 million dollar room exception. It’s possible that Shawn Marion may take the deal.
Shawn Marion is a 35-year-old combo forward from the Dallas Mavericks. He’s far from his Matrix-like quickness, but still has something in the tank. Last year he averaged over 10 points per game and 6.5 rebounds per game while shooting 48% from the field and 36% behind the arc. He’s has played over 30 minutes per game as a Dallas Maverick.
The current roster includes 13 players even with Jordan Clarkson and Julius Randle signed. It’s possible that Shawn Marion may be considered insurance while Clarkson gets some time in the NBDL to get more experience. A lot depends on Steve Nash‘s health as well.
Either way, it wouldn’t hurt to have a veteran presence at the forward spot, especially as tough as Shawn Marion.
