Kobe Bryant On Record-Setting Pace In 19th Season

The Los Angeles Lakers offense through eight games has looked quite simple (and flawed): get the ball to Kobe Bryant, watch Bryant shoot.

Aside from all the fundamental problems with this, Bryant has done an admirable job at the age of 36 in making said shots, considering the degree of difficulty on many of them. He’s done such a good job that he’s actually on pace to shatter the record for highest points per game average of any player in their 19th season.

Putting aside the fact that this team is (so far) centered around Bryant chucking up shots, this is an impressive feat. Bryant is not leading the category, he’s on pace to shatter the record, and that average rose after last night’s 33-point performance, now sitting at 27.5.

Sure, Bryant has been wildly inefficient this year. And both Bryant and the Lakers as a whole are to blame, but we are in the midst of another special season from Bryant. Lakers fans are quite spoiled by the Black Mamba, who is fighting of Father Time for seemingly one game at a time.

If Bryant were to win the scoring title this year, where would that rank on his long list of accomplishments, given the circumstances? Let us know down below!
