Los Angeles Lakers power forward Ryan Kelly is expected to miss 6 weeks after suffering a tear in his right hamstring. Ryan Kelly has only appeared in three games total for the Lakers this season.

Lakers own Mike Trudell confirms this:

Kelly had suffered a injury that he suffered in the first day of training camp that caused him to miss certain amount of weeks. He finally came back yesterday, but he left in the second quarter of the game because of his tear in his right hamstring.

Kelly averaged 3.7 points and 1.7 rebounds in a reserve role during those games. With Kelly out of the line up expect more minutes for Jordan Hill, Carlos Boozer and Ed Davis.

Kelly had a pretty solid rookie season last year. Kelly averaged 8.0 points per game with 3.7 rebounds per game to go along with 1.6 rebounds per game. In the off-season Kelly worked out with some MMA trainers. This gave me the impression that Ryan Kelly was very serious about the team and getting playing time.

Unfortunately for Kelly the Lakers picked up Carlos Boozer in the off-season alongside with Ed Davis. Meaning that Ryan Kelly’s minutes were going to go down
