Byron Scott: ‘It’s time’ to change line-up for Lakers

After a beat-down in the big rivalry match-up against the Boston Celtics, Byron Scott finally will make good on his threat to change the starting line-up ahead of Sunday evening’s game.

There’s a handful of options Scott could consider. It’s safe to say that Kobe Bryant and Jordan Hill‘s starting spots are safe as they’ve been the two best Lakers this season.

Could Jeremy Lin be moved to the bench to give him more time on the court without Bryant? The two have clashing play-styles and have had a hard time meshing this season. Lin’s on-again, off-again play has been infuriating, and his play off the bench in the pre-season offers reason for optimism.

Or, could Scott look to inject some more life into the offense by putting Nick Young into the starting small forward role? Since his return, Swaggy P has given the Lakers a boost off the bench, but the play of Wesley Johnson has not improved, often giving the Lakers a weak link offensively. Young could help space the floor for drives from Bryant and Lin and could be a spot-up shooter as well.

Maybe Scott has liked what he’s seen from Ed Davis in the starting role sparingly. Certainly Carlos Boozer has done little to lock down the spot, and Davis certainly brings more defensive talent to the line-up.
