Game Grades: Miami Heat, Hassan Whiteside Hold Off Lakers

Final. 100. 110. 94. 20

MVP: Sorry Laker fans, but no one was nearly as good as Hassan Whiteside tonight. It’s Linsanity-esque what this man is doing. 18 points, 25 rebounds, 4 blocks, and all the big baskets down the stretch. More importantly, he put the Lakers tank on his back and helped the Lakers from notching a dangerous victory.

LVP: Robert Kelly. Or Ryan Sacre. Either way, those two were the only Lakers players not to score in double figures. Yes, even Wesley Johnson accomplished that. Sorry boys, but that’s not going to cut it.

Stat of the Night: 43-17. As in the free throw discrepancy between the two sides, with Miami attempting two and a half times as many free throws as the Lakers. It wasn’t necessarily an issue of poor officiating as it was a matter of the Heat getting into the lane more and drawing fouls, but that’s a huge difference maker for this game.
