Game Grades: Lakers Wilt Under Pressure Yet Again

20. Final. 100. 79. 93

MVP: The voters have grown tired of naming either Jordan Clarkson or Jeremy Lin MVP, so they decided to give the award to Carlos Boozer tonight. His 17-point, 8-rebound performance included some key rebounds to get the Lakers’ extra possessions and also a nice little move on Dirk Nowitzki late in the game. The voters named Monta Ellis second in voting.

LVP: Sorry Ryan Kelly, but when something like this happens, you pretty much clinch LVP.

Stat of the Night: 26. As in the second-half points from Monta Ellis, who single-handedly kept the Mavericks in the game for most of the third quarter before they were able to pull away late in the fourth. The Lakers did a poor job of containing (or even pretending to) Ellis as he torched the Lakers back court.

The Starters

B-. <strong>26 min, 4-6 FG, 0-0 FT, 8 PTS, 7 REB, 3 AST, 1 STL, 0 BLK, 2 TO</strong><p>A pretty sub-standard night all around for <strong><a href=. C. Los Angeles Lakers. JORDAN HILL

JORDAN CLARKSON. B.  <strong> 35 min, 6-13 FG, 0-1 3P, 3-4 FT, 15 PTS, 6 REB, 5 AST, 0 STL, 0 BLK, 4 TO</strong><p>Jordan Clarkson played alright tonight, but he had trouble taking care of the ball, including a crucial, bad turnover late in the fourth quarter.</p>. PG. Los Angeles Lakers

Los Angeles Lakers. WESLEY JOHNSON. B. <strong>25 min, 6-9 FG, 1-3 3P, 2-3 FT, 15 PTS, 4 REB, 1 AST, 0 STL, 0 BLK, 1 TO</strong><p>20 more games of <strong><a href=. SF

The Bench

PF. Los Angeles Lakers. ED DAVIS. B+. <strong>19 min, 5-8 FG, 0-2 FT, 10 PTS, 8 REB, 2 AST, 0 STL, 3 BLK, 1 TO</strong><p>One of the underrated aspects of his game: interior passing. Good enough vision and soft touch helps him set up some nice plays.</p>

A-.  <strong> 25 min, 8-15 FG, 1-1 FT, 17 PTS, 8 REB, 2 AST, 1 STL, 0 BLK, 3 TO</strong><p>Could anyone have expected this much contribution on or off the court from Boozer when he was originally claimed off waivers?</p>. PF. Los Angeles Lakers. CARLOS BOOZER

PG. Los Angeles Lakers. JEREMY LIN. C-. <strong>24 min, 1-6 FG, 0-1 3P, 5-6 FT, 7 PTS, 2 REB, 5 AST, 1 STL, 0 BLK, 3 TO</strong><p>Unfortunately, we seem to be trending back to pre-All-Star break Jeremy Lin. Let’s hope this two-game stretch is just an anomaly going forward.</p>

F. <strong>23 min, 0-4 FG, 0-2 3P, 2-3 FT, 2 PTS, 2 REB, 0 AST, 0 STL, 1 BLK, 1 TO</strong><p>For as long as Ryan Kelly plays small forward, I’m just going to choose not to evaluate his play. <strong><a href=. PF. Los Angeles Lakers. RYAN KELLY
