Game Grades: Lakers Come Close, Lose To Hawks 91-86

Final. 91. 125. 86. 20

The Lakers struggled out the gate, they only scored 14 points in the first quarter and the Hawks quickly had a nine point lead going into the second quarter. The Lakers had a better showing in the second quarter and cut the lead to three by halftime.

The Hawks used to the third quarter to increase their lead to double digits, but the Lakers were still trying to mount a comeback in the final period. It was a valiant effort against the best team in the East, but not quite enough.

MVP: Jabari Brown was the MVP tonight. He was on the floor for 22 minutes and was very efficient. He shot 4 for 5 from the field and finished with nine points. Brown is making the most of his opportunity and deserves some more time on the floor.

LVPWayne Ellington didn’t shoot the rock very well and it’s understandable, everybody has an off-night. Ellington only scored six points and shot 2 for 11 from the field. The Lakers need him to knock down some shots, otherwise they have no shot at winning.

Stat of the Night: 21. The Lakers turned the ball over 21 times, which was 11 more than Atlanta. You have to take care of the ball and the Lakers failed to do so, which only made it easier for the Hawks to get their 51st win of the season.
