Lakers: Nick Young’s Benching Continues, LA Looking for Trade Options

Despite statistically being the Lakers best player at one point in the season, Nick Young currently headlines Byron Scott‘s doghouse

Early in the season, it looked as if Nick Young had finally turned it around. Shooting 40 percent from the three point line and actually giving a semblance of effort on the defensive end, it seemed like Swaggy P had finally gotten the message and was here to stay.

But a week ago, after somewhat “sounding off” on Kobe Bryant‘s shooting habits, things have quickly gone downhill for Young.

Ironically, Young has been one of the most honest interviewees throughout this entire Lakers season.

After the loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, Young fired subtle shots at Kobe and Byron Scott, which may also account for his untimely demise.

Hilariously enough, some members of the press called it.

Prior to the incident, Young was averaging around 20-25 minutes per contest, but received two “Did Not Play – Coaches Decision,” in the past two games.

Sunday night, tempers finally boiled over against the Detroit Pistons when Young got into an altercation with forward Anthony Tolliver over what appeared to be a regular foul.

After the game, Young sighted “frustration” as the cause, saying that he was “shocked” that he even played versus the Pistons.

This was likely due to the fact that before the game, Scott told the media that Young wouldn’t be playing in the next few games, without providing an explanation.

According to some, the Lakers have moved on from Nick Young and are actively shopping him around the league.

We’ve heard this rumor before so we’ll see if anything comes of it, but hopefully the Lakers could possibly get some young talent or picks back for their floundering small forward.

Seems unlikely but the Lakers did trade “KWAME BROWN,” for Pau Gasol, so anything is possible.
