The Lakers may have five wins, but they still have the best dancing rookie point guard in the NBA

The Los Angeles Lakers suffered their second 30-plus point loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder in the past week on Wednesday night. On Christmas Eve, they were left to pick up the pieces in practice leading up to a Christmas Day matchup with city rivals, the Los Angeles Clippers.

There were obviously many things to work on and take away from the brutal loss to OKC on Wednesday night in terms of performance and scheme. However, rookie point guard D’Angelo Russell wasn’t about to let everyone get to stiff.

Keeping things loose at Lakers practice, Russell turned the hardwood into a dance floor in front of the entire team:

Get it, D-Lo! Also, Mark Madsen’s rhythm is still a thing of legend after his playing days have ended.

There are going to be countless people who see this and say something to the tune of, “Man, this team is terrible. They should be practicing basketball and not dancing.” While there is definitely learning and growing to be done, that statement is patently false.

The absolute last thing that this rebuilding team needs right now is to tense up and start letting losses put them in a mental funk; that’s only going to make the situation in Los Angeles worse as the season wears on. It’s great to see Lakers players, particularly a youngster like Russell, keeping things loose in practice and trying to keep morale within the team up.
