Nike releases the Kobe XI, Black History Month edition, early to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr

Per usual, Nike released Black History Month editions of their signature sneakers for Kobe Bryant, LeBron James, Kevin Durant, and newest signature athlete Kyrie Irving.

Although Black History Month officially starts in February, Nike normally pushes their release dates forward in order for the BHM sneakers to be available for purchase by Martin Luther King Jr Day.

Per Nike,

"Since its debut in 2005, Nike’s annual Nike Black History Month collection has evolved from a single Nike Air Force 1 to an extensive product assortment that pays homage to the achievements of black athletes worldwide."

This year’s color scheme features a black heel tab that fades nicely into a multicolor knit, ultimately finishing in a Duke blue, all held together by a clean white sole.

The BHM version marks the second colorway of Kobe’s 11th signature shoe and as is common with Nike, it draws a $20 price increase solely on account of the “BHM” tag. Meaning, the tech aspects of the shoe are virtually the same as the “Achilles Heel” edition.

Having gotten a chance to try these on personally, they are one of the most comfortable Kobe’s to date, but for upwards of $200, there are definitely tons of cheaper options out there.

The next Kobe XI is supposedly set to drop 1/30 in a Lakers home colorway (white/purple/black) and are already available to fully customize here.
