Jordan Brand is rumored to be releasing a pair of Lakers themed sneakers for Kobe Bryant in February

Sneaker fans everywhere rejoiced when it was revealed that Kobe Bryant would be working with Tinker Hatfield — the man responsible for designing most, if not all, of Michael Jordan‘s sneakers — on his 11th and final signature shoe.

So now that rumors have surfaced that Jordan Brand may actually be releasing a Kobe Bryant pack come February, fans can’t contain their excitement.

After leaving Adidas in 2002, Kobe enjoyed a full year of sneaker free agency where he was courted by the likes of Nike, Reebok and Jordan Brand. We ultimately know that The Black Mamba signed with Nike and never looked back, but some of his best sneaker moments came during his year of freedom.

Alongside the Nike Huarache 2K4, which Kobe rocked regularly, he also donned the Air Jordan 3, 7, 8, 11, 12, even wearing 17’s for a few games. That said, two of the most popular Lakers edition sneakers were the Jordan 3 and 8, which are rumored to be the to pairs in the pack.

While it would have been nice to see Nike go all out with the Kobe XI instead of practically remaking the same shoe they’ve been making since the Kobe VI, it’s definitely a consolation to be getting a Jordan Pack.

The pack that is rumored to release in February has a $500 price tag and will almost assuredly be limited edition so start saving now! Whether or not Nike allows Kobe to wear these shoes on court this year remains to be seen, but that would be a treat for fans everywhere.
