One of the Lakers biggest trade candidates in Nick Young didn’t know when the deadline was

There were really only four realistic trade options for the Los Angeles Lakers leading up to the 2016 NBA Trade Deadline. While nothing materialized and all four of Roy Hibbert, Lou Williams, Brandon Bass, and Nick Young remain Lakers for now, the latter of those four may have celebrated staying in LA just a tad prematurely.

According to reports, Nick Young showed up to practice on Wednesday smiling and happy that he was still on the Lakers. On Thursday, the day of the NBA Trade Deadline, Swaggy P was asked about why he was so happy. As it turned out, Young thought that the trade deadline was on Wednesday and had passed when he showed up to practice, hence his happiness at still being on the team:

You can say whatever you want about Young and whether or not he’s a clown or a distraction for the Lakers. Even if it’s unintentional, the man is comedy gold and this is just a top-notch instance of that.

In actuality, it’s kind of baffling that an NBA player wouldn’t be aware of when the league’s trade deadline is. However, if there was one player that you would guess that wouldn’t know when it was, it would definitely be the Lakers’ resident jester in Swaggy P.

No matter what day the deadline was on, though, Nick Young remains a member of the Lakers after it, for better or worse.
