Lakers: Julius Randle To Start the Rest of the Season

Julius Randle will be the Lakers starting power forward for the remainder of the year

Only a few days removed from going back on his word to allow D’Angelo Russell to start and finish games after the All-Star break, Byron Scott‘s newest lineup change involves Julius Randle.

Since being demoted to the bench, both Russell and Randle have been confused by their role, or lack thereof, on this Lakers team. However, Byron Scott looks to remedy these issues the best he can with the remaining 27 games of the season.

Per Mark Medina, according to Byron, Julius is going to start for the rest of the year. This is interesting news considering rookie surprise, Larry Nance Jr., who had been starting in Randle’s place, had recently been cleared to resume play.

While this is good news on some fronts, the person who should be prioritized in regards to starting and finishing games should be D’Angelo Russell.

Without the invaluable time, not only playing alongside the starters, but more so, guarding opposing starters, Russell’s development is likely to be stunted.

The clock is not only ticking on Kobe Bryant‘s final games with the Lakers, but also for Byron Scott to make up for lost time.

With rumors that his job is on the line swirling and Mitch Kupchak‘s unwillingness to discuss his current standing with the team, another season coaching the Lakers currently hangs in the balance.

Honestly, it may be too little too late, and for the Lakers faithful, that’s a great thing, all things considered.
