Lakers rookie Larry Nance Jr. looked quite healthy throwing down a monstrous putback dunk

The Los Angeles Lakers have been worried about rookie forward Larry Nance Jr. to the point that there was talk that he might not even be available on Wednesday night against the Memphis Grizzlies and could even be shut down for the rest of the season due to a lingering knee injury. However, he was active and, if his hops are any indication, Nance’s knee looks just fine right now.

Late in the third quarter while the Lakers were trying to mount a comeback against Memphis, Lou Williams jacked up a three from the left corner that was off the mark. When it bounced off the rim long, though, Nance timed his run well and was able to get to the rim to secure the rebound and promptly throw it down with a rocking one-handed putback jam:

Oh the irony of a rookie in Nance throwing down that kind of dunk on the AARP version of Vince Carter. Even Vinsanity had be a little impressed with what the Lakers youngster did to him on that play, particularly the ability to reach back and behind his head to throw it down.

More from Lake Show Life

Lakers fans have undoubtedly seen this type of play from Nance before as his leaping ability and talents in regards to dunking are more than touted by the fan-base. However, that doesn’t make it any less enjoyable to see what he’s capable of in action. The youngster looks like he’s coming off of a trampoline or connected to stunt wires every time that he goes up for a play like this—regardless of if his knee is bothering him or not. What’s been great with Nance when he’s been healthy this season, though, is the fact that he can offer plays like this while also showing the effort and savvy that you’d see from a rookie who’s going to be a top-end role player for a long time in the NBA.

Now let’s just make sure he gets healthy so that he can provide the Lakers with plenty more putbacks and other dunks for many years to come.
