Watch every highlight from Lakers’ rookie, D’Angelo Russell‘s, career night

It was only a matter of time before Lakers’ stud, D’Angelo Russell, had himself a game, and Tuesday night against the Brooklyn Nets, he did just that.

If you were watching closely from beginning of the contest, it was readily apparent that Russell was in the zone early on.

Finishing the contest, 39 points, six rebounds and three assists on 14-of-21 shooting, 8-of-12 from downtown, the rookie with “ice in his veins,” did it from all over the court.

Russell started off by showing off his floater then even treated fans with his Dirk-esque post moves, however, it was his barrage of clutch threes towards the end of the game that will be most remembered.

One aspect of his game that was showcased Tuesday night was Russell’s ability to move without the ball. Many times this season, Russell has gotten wide open lay ups, simply by reading the defense and moving to the open spot on the floor.

Kobe Bryant reportedly has been stressing this same sentiment to Jordan Clarkson, so it’s surprising that D’Angelo is the one who took the advice and ran with it.

Another thing that has relatively flown under the radar from D’Angelo Russell’s historic night is the fact that he and Jordan Clarkson are beginning to prove that they can succeed together. While he didn’t have the best shooting night, Clarkson finished with 16 points, seven assists and seven rebounds.

Since returning to the starting lineup Russell has been on an absolute tear and looks to keep up his strong performance Wednesday night in a matchup with his rookie counterpart, Emmanuel Mudiay.

Do you think Byron Scott‘s decision to bench Russell during the middle of the season has had anything to do with his recent outburst? This is to say, do you think Russell appreciates his starting role more now?
