Three Los Angeles Lakers made the Team USA Select roster, but should any of them be on the squad’s starting line up?

Normally when it comes to USA Olympic basketball, the debate is 99 out of 100 times about who would win between the 1992 Dream Team and the 2012 Re-Dream Team.

The question is extremely valid, until you realize that it’s not. The players played in a different era, with different rules, different styles, different everything. Case closed.

The other one percent of the time is spent debating who should start for the present Olympic squad.

Usually, with the likes of the consensus elite players in the mix, the question is fairly simple to answer but this year, with the amount of absences on the Olympic roster, a final starting five is much more difficult to deduce.

However, seeing that the Lakers have no horse in the race on the actual Olympic Team, the question that then trickles down is who should start for the USA Select Roster. Armed with 23 of the best young players in the league, the question is much harder to answer than the previous.

Twitter had their fair share of answers to the question at hand, but at the end of the day it really comes down to what type of team you prefer.

Do you want a team similar to the Golden State Warriors that are capable of defending and then running and gunning on the break? Do you want a half-court based team like the San Antonio Spurs who can slow it down and pick you apart on defense?

Do you Sam Hinkie it up and pick the best talent available regardless of fit (all center squad FTW) or do you pick a more traditional roster, with a point guard, shooting guard, small forward, power forward and center?
