Former Lakers point guard Derek Fisher is showing off his workouts as he reportedly continues to work towards a potential comeback

It’s still bizarre just to merely think about former Los Angeles Lakers point guard Derek Fisher trying to make an NBA comeback at 41 years old. Not only is that over the hill tremendously in this sport, but you’re also talking about a guy that was more recently an NBA head coach than he was a player.

However, it’s seeming more and more likely that a comeback to the NBA is exactly what he has in mind. And for what it’s worth, he’s at least attempting to put in the work, it would seem.

Late on Tuesday night, Derek Fisher posted a video to his official Facebook page of him running drills and so on in the gym, looking like he’s trying to get somewhere close to NBA ready:

To be clear, I’m not sure Derek Fisher is ever going to be NBA ready in 2016. He was a key cog for the Lakers in many championships and had other moments elsewhere. But those times have since passed.

Fisher last played in the NBA in the 2013-14 season, suiting up for the Oklahoma City Thunder, playing in 81 games and seeing the floor for 17.6 minutes per contest. However, most would agree that Fisher was the weak-link in that Thunder rotation for that season, which doesn’t bode particularly well for what he’d look like after two seasons off.

We’ve recently seen other former NBA guards like Baron Davis try to make their way back into the NBA, but you have to wonder if a team will pay someone like Derek Fisher due to his coaching experience and championship experience as a player.

Either way, you can go ahead and file this under one of the strangest offseason stories and one that everyone will half-jokingly be keeping an eye on.
