Kobe Bryant may be retired, but that hasn’t stopped him from making his presence felt throughout the NBA

Celebrating his 38th birthday on Tuesday, even in retirement Kobe Bryant continues to make headlines. Earlier this week, the city of Los Angeles declared August 24, “Kobe Bryant Day,” in an attempt to celebrate his legendary career with the Los Angeles Lakers.

During events like these, the internet hardly ever disappoints and such was the case with the memes and posts paying homage to the Black Mamba. Here are some of the best posts that we found.

Bleacher Report got things started posting a photoshopped image of Kobe with a goat over his head, in reference to the belief that he indeed is the “Greatest of All Time,” following this up with a statue of a fading Kobe Bryant statue in front of Staples Center.

Others got in on the action by posting throwbacks of Kobe’s greatest accomplishments to help remind the masses exactly why he deserves his very own day in LA including him posing with his first three championship trophies.

However, the best internet posts are more often than not the memes.

One user went so far as to edit Kobe, Ron Artest, Paul Pierce and Dwight Howard into Ice Cube’s, “Today Was a Good Day” music video.

My personal favorite, however, may have been SportsCenter’s post of Kobe’s epic response, or lack thereof, when Matt Barnes tried to punk him, pretending to throw the ball at his face.

The Los Angeles Rams also paid their respects posting a picture of Kobe Bryant in a Rams uniform in what resembles an old school football card.
