The Los Angeles Lakers will close their preseason tonight in Anaheim against the Phoenix Suns

Whether it was by coincidence or design, the Lakers have faced off against some talented backcourt duos in their handful of preseason games. Steph Curry and Klay Thompson, Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum, and now Eric Bledsoe and Devin Booker.

Bledsoe is looking to get back to playing basketball at high level after sitting out a good chunk of last season with a torn meniscus.

Booker, on the other hand, is doing just fine. In his second year in the NBA, he is leading all scorers in the preseason with 21.5 points per game. He will go head-to-head with 2015 NBA Draft classmate D’Angelo Russell in their preseason finale.

Beyond that, the Suns are still pretty deep at both guard positions. They will have both Brandon Knight and Leandro Barbosa available on the bench for tonight’s game.

Knight would be a starter on at least a dozen other teams in the NBA, but the Suns have a really good problem with Booker. Booker is a really talented young player who is costing them a whole lot less than what Knight is costing them.

Don’t be surprised if you see the Suns blow up their backcourt the same way they did with Goran Dragic and Isaiah Thomas just a few years ago.

They certainly seem to be headed that direction with the number of young players the acquired in this year’s draft. The Suns drafted European sensation Dragan Bender with the No. 4 overall pick and moved up the draft board to take the freakishly athletic Marquese Chriss.

Two young teams going at it. You won’t want to miss this. Here’s where to watch tonight’s action.
