Lakers: D’Angelo Russell Shows Off Singing Chops in NBA Christmas Commercial

Lakers fans can get into the Christmas spirit with this NBA Christmas commercial featuring a singing D’Angelo Russell

It’s the “most dunktastic time of the year” indeed. NBA fans get the opportunity stay in and watch Christmas basketball, starting with a Finals rematch in Cleveland. Then they get to end their night with the Battle of Los Angeles at Staples Center as D’Angelo Russell and the Baby Lakers take on the Clippers.

Leading up to this year’s festivities, the NBA released another one of their famous commercials starring the league’s biggest names. While the Lakers play almost every year on Christmas day, a new face stepped into the spotlight for the Purple and Gold this time around.

Also featured in the commercial was Clippers’ superstar Blake Griffin, Victor Oladipo, Kevin Love, Zach LaVine, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Draymond Green and San Antonio’s famous Coyote.

Thunder guard Victor Oladipo is known around the NBA for his singing chops, but not Russell–and now we know why. No one’s going to come knocking on his door with a record deal, unless he has  serious bars like Dame D.O.L.L.A. His best bet is probably just sticking to basketball.

The Lakers have the tough task of taking on a talented Clippers squad that has a few stars of their own. Unfortunately, neither teams will be at full health, with both Blake Griffin and Nance Griffin Jr. out for tomorrow’s contest.

The Lake Show lost to the Clippers 94-84 last Christmas. This year, to save me from tears, let’s hope they find a way to get a win for the fans.

Next: Mitch Kupchak, the architect of the Lakers

What do you think of Russell’s vocals? Would he get your vote on NBA Idol? Let us know in the comments below or shoot us a tweet @TheLakeShowLife. Happy Holidays!
