Los Angeles Lakers Work Out Free Agent Donatas Motiejunas
The Los Angeles Lakers worked out unrestricted free agent Donatas Motiejunas, according to Ramona Shelburne of ESPN.
While the Los Angeles Lakers have a full 15-player roster, they’re reportedly still looking at making moves via free agency. According to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, the Lakers worked out former Houston Rockets forward Donatas Motiejunas.

The Lithuanian big man entered unrestricted free agency earlier this month after complications with the Rockets’ front office. While he was still a restricted free agent, Motiejunas signed a deal with the Brooklyn Nets worth up to $35 million over four years.
Motiejunas is coming off of a disappointing season with the Houston Rockets, only playing 37 games and averaging 6.2 points and 2.9 rebounds per game. D’Mo’s value lies within his potential in a bigger role.
His best season came just two years ago when he averaged 12 points on 50 percent shooting from the field and 37 percent from behind the arc. Should the Lakers pursue him, Motiejunas would have to take a pay cut.
The Lakers have roughly $2.5 million to spend and only have two non-guaranteed contracts on their roster. In order for this deal to work, LA would likely have to waive one or both of Thomas Robinson and Metta World Peace.
Motiejunas was drafted with the 20th pick in the 2011 NBA Draft by the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Timberwolves dealt D’Mo to Houston shortly after, and that is where he has spent his entire NBA career up to date.
No deal was agreed upon following the workout, according to Shelburne, but we’ll keep you posted as the day goes on.
