Lakers D’Angelo Russell and Brandon Ingram had underwhelming games in Team USA’s 150-141 loss to Team World in the Rising Stars game.

If you were one of the few people that guessed Frank Kaminsky would lead Team USA with his 27 points, congratulations. You won, I think. However, if you were one of the many fans that were hoping D’Angelo Russell and Brandon Ingram would lead Team USA to victory, you were probably left wanting more.

Russell and Ingram combined for 14 points, with Russell leading the two with 10 points on 4-for-9 shooting. D’Angelo also added four assists and three rebounds.

Ingram’s night wasn’t much different from his rookie season so far. He finished with only 4 points on 2-for-4 shooting, but in his defense, he played the second-fewest minutes (16) of anyone on Team USA. The player with the fewest minutes played? Fellow former Blue Devil Jahlil Okafor. That guy can’t catch a break.

Something that I also found interesting was that Ingram, the No. 2 pick in the 2016 draft, wasn’t given the starting nod. Instead, Phoenix Suns’ Marquese Chriss–a power forward–started at the three. Weird.

But it wasn’t all bad for Lakers fans, as Ingram and Russell treated the fans to some highlight moments, including this gem from Ingram:

and a pair of showtime-esque buckets from D’Angelo:

The weekend isn’t over for the Purple and Gold just yet. Nick Young will participate in the three-point contest Saturday night and try to upset former champions, Klay Thompson and Kyrie Irving. It promises to be an exciting night for Lakers fans.
